We've spent a lot of time working on the product's interface (as always). You
can see the highlights of our work below. If you want to
see the same interface in action please take a look at the
online product's demo or
download a trial version.
This is the main list of all projects to which the user has access to. Project
"Factory Nova" has overdue tasks — it is marked with red and is located
at the top of the list. Project "Factory Nova Interface" has tasks that are
due today — it is marked with yellow and is also at the top, but lower
then a project with overdue tasks. That's smart sorting feature at work.
In Factory Nova there are two different headers available: a big one for
novice users and a small one for expert users. You can easily switch between
the two headers with a mouse click. The small header uses only a fraction of
the screen thus saving additional screen real estate for actual data.
On the overview page you can quickly see the latest activity in the project
as well as the project's overall progress and team members statistics.
Tasks tree is the main way to work with tasks in Factory Nova. The branches
of the tree are loaded dynamically without any page reloading. You can do most
of the tasks operations (like changing status, priority, deadline, etc)
directly from the tree.
Factory Nova allows you to work with the tasks not only using a tree, but also
using a flat list. A tree or a flat list are good for different scenarios. In
Factory Nova you can choose the most convenient way to work with the tasks in
your particular case, we are not limiting you with only one of the approaches.
You can conveniently filter the tasks in the tree or in a flat list using
various parameters. You can also save filters for easy re-use in the future.
The task page contains all the information about the task. It also contains
additional internal sections (tabs). On this screenshot you can see a Files
tab opened. Other available tabs are: Everything, Discussion, Private Discussion,
Worklog and History.
Tags page displays all the tags defined in the project. For every tag you can see
a number of active tasks, a number of finished tasks and overall tasks progress.
In our case, we mainly use tags for versions of the products and the tag progress
effectively shows us how close a particular version is to completion.
On this screenshot you can see emails that are stored inside the "Factory Nova"
project. Two emails are marked as processed and one is marked as important.
Factory Nova tries to display the messages as discussions where possible. The
numbers in the brackets next to the subject specifies the number of
individual email messages in each email discussion.
Factory Nova displays the messages from the same email discussion on the same
page. The older emails are at the top, the last email is opened by default and
you can click on the closed ones to open them too. Outgoing and incoming emails
are marked with special icons. You can quickly send email replies directly
from this page.
This is how a discussion thread looks like. Discussions is a separate
module available in every project. You can use it to discuss various aspects
of the project with your clients and team memebers. At any time you can
transform any post in the discussion into a task or a knowledge base
article and Factory Nova will automatically keep the relation between the
new entity and the original one.
You can store various information related to the project in the
integrated knowledge base.
Factory Nova has a special gallery mode for the project files. In this
mode only images are displayed, but they are displayed as thumbnails as
opposed to a standard list of files. With gallery mode you can quickly
find the image that you are looking for just by looking at the thumbnails.
In Factory Nova you can discuss any uploaded file. If you are discussing an
image then it will be resized (on the server-side) to the exact width of
your browser window. If you are discussing a flash movie then it will be
displayed on the discussion page too. You can even discuss files that came
in as attachments to the email messages!
The built-in fulltext search features allows you to quickly find the
information that you need in a particular project or in all projects
to which you have access to. With advanced search you can even limit the
results to a particular project entity (task, discussionn, etc).
